USGBC NH Letter in Support of Building Code Change

Phil Sherman, PE

Chair

New Hampshire State Building Code Review Board

Dear Mr. Sherman,

I am writing on behalf of the United States Green Building Council – New Hampshire (USGBC NH) Chapter in support of updating the State’s energy building code to 2024 IECC level. As indicated in the report, “Quantifying the Cost and Benefits of Upgrading the NH IECC 2018 Building Energy Code to the IECC 2024 Code” shared with the BCRB, there are significant cost savings to homeowners and building owners for operational costs, while having a small impact on the costs of construction. This benefits all home and building owners in the state and falls in line with USGBC NH’s mission statement to have a healthy community built on social responsibility, environmental stewardship and economic prosperity.

Please consider recommending the adoption of the 2024 IECC Building Code with the New Hampshire Legislature.

Sincerely,

Kim Pyszka

Chair of United States Green Building Council – New Hampshire Chapter
